Finally a biopic celebrating black women! Pam Grier, who ruled the 70′s Blaxploitation era of movies, is getting the big screen treatment.  Her best-selling autobiography “Foxy: My Life In Three Acts” has been optioned by Imprint Entertainment.  According to Michael Becker of Imprint, “’Foxy’ succeeds at a stark impression of Grier’s courage and inner strength without the use of rose-colored glasses. Imprint Entertainment looks forward to bringing this triumphant story to life.”

Eunetta T. Boone, who’s written for sitcom classics such as “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” and Living Single” has been commissioned to pen the script.  Grier, who was dubbed the “first female action star” by director Quention Tarantino, has led a very colorful life, including love affairs with comedian Richard Pryor and actor Freddie Prinze.

Grier has mentioned interest in Halle Berry in playing her if the project gets the green light.  While Berry is an Oscar-winning actress, perhaps it’s time for her to pass the baton to a younger actress, whose career could benefit from such great exposure.

What say you readers? Is Halle Berry a good fit to play Pam Grier? Or would you rather see someone else in the role? Sound off in comments section below.
