Thanks to social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and a host of others the national conversation doesn’t just happen on the television and in movies via news and social commentary. It happens 24 hours a day every day. And the facts of American history coupled with constant satirical meme generation mean that we don’t have to forget just how messed up we are for what our grandparents’ grandparents’ grandparents’ grandparents did.
We also share this info and all kinds of things like them with family via social media. With all this connection, we don’t really have as big a need to reconnect with family for big dinners and social events because we never lose contact. You already know Aunt Maybelline had foot surgery because you saw the pictures ‘n’ e’rything. Knowing all this lowers the sense of urgency to get with those family members come Thanksgiving. Especially with all the driving and flying and…good grief. We’ll just try again next year!
