The 45th NAACP Image Awards Nominees For Outstanding Actress

From Kerry Washington to Halle Berry, 2013 definitely was the year of Black beauty. We can’t get enough of our favorite actresses getting the attention that they rightfully deserve. The 45th NAACP Awards are coming up and we rounded up the fabulous actresses who are up for the pivotal “Outstanding Actress” award.

Let the games begin…

2. Angela Bassett In “Black Nativity”

Ms. Bassett is a legend who always has the choice to play serious roles, but when she was in “Black Nativity,” a “gospel song-play,” we were curious to see her in a lighter role again. This musical seemed like the perfect fit for her.

3. Halle Berry In “The Call”

We all know Halle is a stunning beauty, but this thriller definitely made us jump out of our seats. This is a must-see, but remember to watch this during the day.

4. Jennifer Hudson In “Winnie Mandela”

Jennifer said in many interviews how strenuous it was for her to play Mandela’s well-known former wife. Winnie truly had a voice all her own, and Jennifer showed just how serious her acting chops are.

5. Kerry Washington In “Tyler Perry Presents Peeples”

Although Ms. Kerry is known for her serious demeanor in “Scandal,” she did a great job showing off her comedic side as well in “Peeples.”

6. Nicole Beharie In “42”

We were waiting for a Jackie Robinson biopic for a while now, and this one proved to be worth waiting for. Nicole played Jackie Robinson’s wife in the film and stole the show.
