It seems Jason Campbell may be a free agent in more ways than one.
This from The Washington Post regarding Campbell’s scheduled wedding:
“Campbell and fiancee Yenicia “Jenny” Montes called off Saturday’s ceremony just hours before the couple was scheduled to tie the knot. The 162 guests — who flew to an exclusive Dominican Republican resort for the celebration — were informed at a welcoming party that the marriage was off, but did not receive any explanation why.”
Campbell has denied reports he left Montes at the altar, painting the decision as a mutual one.
CSN’s Kate Longworth tweeted:
“Spoke w/ #JasonCampbell re: some ‘wedding rumors’ he denied leaving his fiance (sic) at the alter, saying it’s not in his character to do that”
Campbell, a first-round pick of the Washington Football Team in 2005 — he came off the board right after Aaron Rodgers — spent the last two seasons with the Raiders. After a strong start in 2011, his year was cut short by a broken clavicle and Oakland’s subsequent decision to trade for Carson Palmer.
Campbell is expected to hit the open market next month — the NFL version, that is — once his contract expires.
