Sexyy Red Sued for Encouraging Fans to Attack Her Child’s Grandmother
Sexyy Red is facing a lawsuit after allegedly encouraging her social media followers to attack Nicole Barnes, the paternal grandmother of one of her children.

Barnes claims that in December 2024, the rapper—whose real name is Janae Wherry—posted her home address and a picture of her house on Facebook. According to the lawsuit, Red also urged her followers to “kick in the door” and commit acts of violence against Barnes.

Barnes’ attorney, Steven Weaver, says his client was dragged into a dispute between Red and the father of her child, even though she had nothing to do with it. “Sexyy Red and her baby daddy are getting into beefs, for whatever reason, that have nothing to do with my client,” Weaver explained. He also revealed that attempts to resolve the issue privately were unsuccessful. “We did try to informally resolve it, and her attorneys thought it was a joke. And now they’re finding out it’s not.”

Barnes says the situation has had a devastating impact on her life. She filed a police report after Red’s alleged post and ultimately had to move out of her home in Hazelwood, Missouri, due to safety concerns. The lawsuit claims she has struggled to find another home at a comparable price and now lives in fear. As a result, she has sought therapy for emotional distress.
In the lawsuit, Barnes is seeking $5 million in damages.

Sexyy Red, who is the mother of two children—a son born in 2020 and a daughter born in February 2024—has not publicly addressed the lawsuit.
