Jeezy is once again in the middle of a heated legal battle with his ex-wife, Jeannie Mai, and this time, he’s asking the court to make her cover nearly $20,000 in attorney fees. The rapper, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, filed a motion on March 14, demanding that Jeannie pay for the legal costs he incurred while defending himself against what he calls her “frivolous” accusations.

The former couple, who tied the knot in May 2021, have been in a prolonged divorce dispute since Jeezy filed for divorce in September 2023. Although they reached a settlement in June 2024, their legal issues continue. In September 2024, Jeannie filed a petition accusing Jeezy of being in contempt of their divorce agreement, claiming that he had failed to meet several obligations, including paying daycare and school expenses for their daughter, Monaco, and reimbursing her for rent payments totaling $92,000. She also alleged that he had not transferred the titles of two vehicles, a 2021 Range Rover and a 2022 Ford Bronco, to her.

Jeezy strongly denied the contempt claims, calling them “blatant misrepresentations” intended to mislead the court. In his motion, Jeezy argued that the lease agreements Jeannie provided for rent reimbursement couldn’t be verified and that she had fought efforts to subpoena her bank records. He also accused her of leaking the contempt petition to the media to publicly embarrass and damage his reputation. Jeezy’s legal team pointed out that while both are public figures, he has always tried to keep the matter private, especially to protect their daughter. However, they argue that Jeannie’s actions throughout the case have been aimed at publicly attacking him, both financially and personally.

Jeezy went on to refute the claims regarding the car titles, explaining that one of the vehicles, the Ford Bronco, was damaged by a tree and deemed a total loss. He’s currently working with the insurance company to resolve the matter. Jeezy firmly believes that the evidence shows he is not in contempt of their agreement and that Jeannie should pay the $19,839.81 in legal fees for the contempt case.
This latest legal move is just one of many chapters in the ongoing saga between Jeezy and Jeannie. As In Touch previously reported, their divorce has been contentious, with months of disputes over the prenup, custody arrangements, and even a police call when Jeannie showed up to collect her belongings from Jeezy’s home. A judge has yet to make a decision on Jeezy’s request for attorney fees.
