The petition, created by someone named Eric Williams and signed by only 370 people, claims that Williams’ speech was “racist” and he should be punished for his “hate speech.”

“Jesse Williams spewed a racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people at the BET awards. If this was a white person making the same speech about an African American, they would have been fired and globally chastised, as they should be, but there has been no consequences to Williams’ actions. There’s been no companies making a stand against his racist remarks and no swift action condemning his negative attitude. Why was Burke’s character fired from Grey’s Anatomy after his inappropriate homophobic slur, but nothing for Jesse Williams? Why the one-way street? Why the support for a hater? Why the hypocrisy? #AllLivesMatter  All humans bleed the same color. #EqualConsequences4RacistBehavior”

One of these days, folks are gonna learn that speaking out about racism and inequality doesn’t make someone racist. Sigh. Jesse, you just keep doing you boo.

Say What? Purple Rain Shirt Sells For $100,000

Prince’s white ruffled Purple Rain shirt has been sold at an auction for a whopping $100,000. According to The Guardian, the late iconic singer’s New Romantic-style ivory silk shirt and a black-and-white blazer from the 1984 film sold for $96,000 each at a Profiles in History sale in California.

Clearly, Prince’s death skyrocketed the price of the items. Prior to his passing in April, the blazer, had an asking price of $6,000-$8,000, while the shirt worn by Prince’s character the Kid had an asking price of $3,000-$5,000.

“It just happened to be one of those coincidences that unfortunately he passed away,” said Profiles in History founder Joe Maddalena. He added, “Probably the signature thing he is known for is Purple Rain. It’s what made his career. It’s probably what he’ll be remembered for always. To have an important piece like this is pretty astonishing and an amazing opportunity.”

Maddalena refused to reveal who bought the items from the Icons of Hollywood sale.

Black Reporter Keeps Her Cool During Racist Attack Caught On Camera

Last week, a white woman harassed a African-American reporter in Iowa, hurling racial slurs at her and putting her hands on her, the Huffington Post reported.

In Boone, Iowa, Emmy Victor was reporting about the recent police death shooting of Michael Disbrowe, 28, who was shot after allegedly threatening people with his gun. As she was reporting, Disbrowe’s mother became very irate and verbally assaulted Victor, who being classy and professional, kept her cool.

“Ma’am, ma’am, don’t ever,” Victor says before the woman approaches her a second time and put her finger in Victor’s face, the Huff Post noted. As Disbrowe’s mother walks away, she threatened photojournalist Zachary Hayes, who was accompanying Victor, and kicked over the camera’s tripod. Thankfully, no one was physically harmed, but these kinds of incidents can be traumatizing for the victims.

In a statement, Brian Sather, KCCI’s general manager, complimented the two for their calm, cool and collected response to such vitriol hatred.

“The safety of our crews is critically important as they cover stories affecting our communities,” Sather said. “This morning Emmy and Zach demonstrated the utmost professionalism in the face of a very difficult, emotionally-charged situation.”
