We had the true honor of speaking with Reverend Wheeler Parker, cousin of the late Emmett Till, to discuss his feelings on the recent passing of a bill that finally recognizes lynching as a hate crime. 

On Sept. 2, the Emmett Till Center discovered another historical marker paying tribute to the slain-teen was tampered with as the sign had been toppled over.

Famed actress Whoopi Goldberg is set to co-star and produce a film about Emmett Till’s unfortunate 1955 lynching, but plans to do so by telling the tragic tale from the perspective of his mom, Mamie Till-Mobley.

The tragically short life of Emmett Till became a tipping point for the Civil Rights Movement, and his enduring legacy serves as a reminder not much as changed in America.
