As another scandal engulfs his team in the lead up to the Indianapolis 500, Roger Penske has made some big changes.

On Wednesday it was announced that Penske had parted ways with Team President Tim Cindric, managing director Ron Ruzewski, and general manager Kyle Moyer. The move comes after Team Penske drivers Josef Newgarden and Will Power had been found to have illegally modified attenuators on their cars, and were bumped to the back of the field, among other penalties.

The move was quite the shakeup for IndyCar, and on the Wednesday edition of the show, one of the stalwarts of the sport, Ed Carpenter of Ed Carpenter Racing, joined The Ride With JMV, and shared his thoughts on the firings.

Unfortunately, this was a combination of what happened this weekend and what happened last year. I think something had to be done for the good of the sport and all the teams. I know it was a hard decision, but I commend them for sending a message to not only the teams, but also the entire fan base and everybody that was asking a lot of questions…I feel for the three individuals that aren’t going to be here with the teams, because I know them all and I have appreciation and respect for all of them, but something had to give.”
