Robinson explained that in 2020, she was living with her parents in Las Vegas but eventually decided to move out. Encouraged by her former manager, she relocated to Los Angeles, believing she could stay with him temporarily. However, when that arrangement fell through, she was forced to live in a hotel for eight months. Finding stable housing proved challenging, as Robinson claimed her manager interfered with her efforts to secure an apartment.

“Sometimes people want to trap you and keep you in a situation where you’re vulnerable and depending on them,” she said. Realizing she needed to take control of her situation, she began researching alternative living arrangements and stumbled upon the “car life” movement. Inspired by others who had chosen a similar path, she decided to give it a try.
“You guys, for the past three years, I have been living in my car,” Robinson admitted, exhaling deeply. “I said it—oh my gosh, it’s out.” Despite what some might consider a difficult situation, she described it as freeing. “It felt like I was on a camping trip. It just felt like the right thing to do,” she said of her decision to head to Malibu and live on the road.

She made it clear that she is not seeking sympathy. “It’s not ‘Woe is me,'” she stated. “I’m learning about who I am. I’m learning myself as a person, as a woman.” While she misses her family and friends, she believes this experience was necessary for her personal growth. She also revealed that her dog, Max, passed away while they were living in the car, leaving her to truly navigate life on her own.

Robinson acknowledged that, ideally, she would have a permanent home, but she has no regrets about her journey. “If I could have an apartment, I would,” she admitted. “But I’m absolutely glad I did this. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished out here.” She ended her video with an inspiring message: “Be spontaneous. Do the scary. F— fear.”
A founding member of En Vogue, Robinson helped shape the group’s success alongside Cindy Herron, Terry Ellis, and Maxine Jones. The group, formed in 1989, became known for hits like “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It),” “Giving Him Something He Can Feel,” and “Free Your Mind.” After leaving the group in 1997, she briefly rejoined for reunions in 2005 and 2009. Over the years, she has also pursued acting and appeared in R&B Divas: Los Angeles.
