London Breed To Become Acting Mayor After Ed Lee Dies

London Breed went from being raised in the housing projects to the acting mayor San Francisco. Breed is now placed in the position after the death of Ed Lee, who suffered from a heart attack while grocery shopping. According to SFgate, she could possibly serve as acting mayor until June 2018.

Currently, Breed leads as the Board of Supervisors, but will be confirmed as interim mayor. Although some might have issues with this because she is more progressive Breed will have to see what happens. Political analyst, Jim Ross said, “Breed already has the job. Now she has to get confirmed. And then she has to decide if she wants to run for mayor in June. Moving forward, someone will really have the power to shape the direction the city is headed.”

In many of her speeches Breed talks about how she was raised in the projects and overcame violence. Her brother went to prison and sister died of an overdose, but she entered into college and earned a Master’s degree. We will keep you posted on if they choose Breed to remain in her position.
