Bun B talked with “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” about the efforts going on to rebuild Houston after hurricane Harvey. He explains where the approximately $44 million dollars from the telethon will go after it is collected, and who is deciding how it will be put to use. He shares a bit about the level of difficult he had, if any, putting together such a high-profile, large-scale event. He gives his assessment of how long it will take Houston to recover from the hurricane damage- “years” -and why rebuilding the homes and infrastructures will be the easiest part.

Bun B talks about the progress in his hometown (which is also Gary With Da Tea‘s hometown) of Port Arthur, Texas. He says he has seen so many neighborhoods built in places that shouldn’t be built on; too close to reservoirs or too far below sea level. He explains why they can’t really rely too much on bigger organizations like FEMA, and why the responsibility to rebuild communities ultimately falls on the people in those communities. Plus, Bun gives Rickey Smiley a hilarious fundraising tip for getting more people involved. Click on the audio player in this exclusive interview from “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.”
