LeBron James‘ entertainment company, SpringHill Entertainment, is venturing into scripted television for the first time. James has picked up a limited scripted television series about Madam C.J. Walker, and Octavia Spencer is reportedly on board as well. In a Statement, LeBron expressed his pride in the project, and his excitement to move forward with it.
While a project of this nature is a first for LeBron, Octavia Spencer is no stranger to quality storytelling on screen. The academy award winning actress has been seen in films such as “The Help,” “Fruitvale Station,” “Get On Up,” and “Hidden Figures,” just to name a few.
In a statement, LeBron James reportedly said “Every American should all know the story of Madam C. J. Walker. She was an innovator, entrepreneur, social activist, and total game changer whose story has been left out of the history books. I hope this project lives up to her legacy with a story that will educate and inspire.” Netflix is rumored to be interested in the project, and will likely ink a deal for it eventually. We can’t wait to see what the duo cooks up!
