According to reports, Bishop Christopher C. Smith addressed New Birth Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday saying, “Today it is with great sadness I announce that our bishop has transitioned. He’s no longer in pain,” Smith continues. “He’s no longer dealing with the complications that he had to deal with.”
The news of the Senior pastor’s death comes months after people began speculating about his deteriorating health when he posted a video last year of him looking extremely thin. However, he never publicly disclosed the nature of his illness. Bishop Long’s daughter took to Instagram to confirm the shocking death with an emotional post about her late dad.
She wrote, “I love you Dad. Thank you for being perfect. I cherish every moment i’ve shared w/ you even up to your last breath. I don’t blame God for wanting you back, i would too. everything i do is for you, it’s been my honor to be your daughter. thank you for being the greatest example of a wonderful father & husband. You kicked cancers ass! Job Well Done my angel.”
