The star is reportedly suing BET for what her legal team is calling “outrageous conduct.” Union says that though her contract clearly states that she will film no more than 13 episodes per season of Being Mary Jane, the network is trying to squeeze out nearly 10 more episodes in Season 4, not only to extend the term of her contract but to avoid paying her a per season raise for Season 5.
The cable network released a statement following Union’s claims, saying, “While we hold Gabrielle Union in the highest esteem, we feel strongly that we are contractually well within our rights and are committed to reaching a swift and positive resolution in this matter.” The statement comes just days after it was announced that Michael Ealy would be joining the cast of the hit show.
