Sherri Shepherd is appealing the court’s decision that she is the legal mother of a surrogate child that was born after the TV personality split with her husband Lamar Sally Jr..
According to E! Online, Shepherd is arguing that she should not have been ruled the child’s legal mother because Pennsylvania law requires parentage to be established by “genetics/biology or by adoption,”
The Supreme court ruled that Shepherd’s name would remain on the birth certificate and she would be obligated to pay child support, and subsequent fees to the surrogate mother.
Sally’s lawyer told E!, “If you set out to conceive a child through assisted reproduction and enter into contracts to do so, you cannot just walk away from your legal parental responsibility because you changed your mind.”
We’re like, c’mon Sherri, don’t be a dead beat mom to that innocent child.
