R. Kelly and Complex teamed up to premiere the 48-year-old singer’s video for his single, ‘Happy Birthday.’ The clip finds a hungover Kelly waking up in a bed full of scantily clad women with no clue of what happened the previous night.
‘Kellz baby, you know what happened last night,’ one of Kelly’s guests reminds him before exiting. ‘You recorded it.’
Over the course of the four-minute visual, Kelly retraces his steps from the strip club, where he ‘makes it rain’ on exotic dancers before treating a few female companions to a lavish shopping trip.
‘She’s a good girl, but tonight she a stripper / She got a man, but that n—a ain’t with her / I give her a bottle, like I was her babysitter,’ Kelly sings.
Kelly’s last album—2013’s Black Panties—debuted at the fourth spot on Billboard magazine’s ‘Top 200’ albums chart, with confirmed Nielsen SoundScan sales of over 133,000 units during its first week of release. It was his tenth top five debut. You can view the ‘Happy Birthday’ video below.
