Kenneth Petty has been sentenced for failing to register as a sex offender in California. On July 6, the 44-year-old was sentenced to one year of in-home detention and three years probation, CBS Los Angeles reported. He also has to pay a $55,000 fine.

Kenneth Petty, husband of Nikki Minaj, is facing the possibility of spending 10 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release after pleading guilty Thursday to failure to register as a sex offender in the state of California.

Petty formally entered the plea on Thursday (September 9), hoping for a minimum sentence to be handed down by the judge.

Petty says he was incarcerated when the hearing went down back in 2004 and never got a notice that it was happening.
