According to reports, Stone was traveling in a sprinter van near Montgomery, Alabama, when the vehicle was struck by an 18-wheeler, causing it to overturn. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1961, Angie Stone’s musical journey began with gospel music, influenced by her father’s quartet.
