Randall, a freshman at Texas Southern University, died in a shooting on campus that stemmed from an argument during a basketball game.
6. Charnesia Corley
Corley was sexually assaulted by Texas police during a cavity search on the side of the road; police tried to justify the attack by saying that they suspected her of possessing marijuana.
7. Kendrick Johnson
In August, brothers Branden and Brian Bell denied any involvement in Johnson’s mysterious 2013 death. Johnson was found in rolled up in a gym mat with “unexplained, apparent non-accidental blunt force trauma” to his body.
Known as the Charleston Nine, these churchgoers were all victims of a mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC by an alleged terrorist.
9. Zella Ziona
Ziona, a transgender woman, was targeted and murdered in an alleyway in Gaithersburg, Maryland by a masked assailant after a dispute at a nearby mall.
10. Latandra Ellington
Relatives spoke out to NPR News saying that they suspected Ellington was murdered by guards at Florida’s Lowell Correctional Institution, as she had revealed that she was being threatened while in custody.
11. Janiya Thomas
Thomas, only 11-years-old, is suspected of being murdered and put into a freezer by her mother. Her body was allegedly found by her grandmother and aunt. The investigation is ongoing.
Jenkins, a transgender woman, was brutally beaten and shot twice in the back by a group of men in Philadelphia. One man was arrested while there is a $20,000 reward that has been posted for anyone who finds the other three suspects.
