Pittsburgh Steelers Fire Chris Rainey Over Battery Charge

Things have gone from bad to worse for Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Rainey. Rainey has been fired from the NFL team after being arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Florida yesterday.

The Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert released a statement, “Chris Rainey’s actions this morning were extremely disappointing. Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

In case you missed it, law enforcement in Gainesville, Florida responded to call where witnesses say Rainey slapped his girlfriend after she took his cell phone and tried to lock herself in his roommate’s car. Chris Rainey allegedly dragged the woman out of the car and chased her down the street when she tried to make a run for it.

Rainey was charged with simple battery and remains behind bars.
