I’m going to need R. Kelly not only sit down, but lay down. Go to Sleepy’s, buy a Sealy Posturepedic, and just take a nap because this “Trapped in the Closet” business has gotten out of hand! Lawd, I didn’t think that the saga would go this far, but thanks to the IFC, Kelly has dragged out this soap opera with more chapters for us to see. Joy.

But now, since debuting chapter 23 of the series — yes, 23 — to an audience, he also announced that he wants to take “Trapped in the Closet” to the stage. ”To transform it into a Broadway version,” he said, “that’s what I’m working on.” The good news keeps on rolling in, as Kelly has a total of 85 chapters of this “Trapped in the Closet” testament that he wants to share with the world.

Kelly admits the absurdity of the story (there’s a pimp, a drugpin, and a blind prostitute), calling his masterpiece “an alien, and I’m happy to be one of the astronauts to take this trip to places unknown.” And thankfully for us, he has a lot of time on his hands to give us so much more. ”I don’t have a job, so I sit in the studio and think of stupid stuff.”

Watch a clip of Chapter 23 of “Trapped in the Closet” below. The full chapter airs on IFC on Friday.
