Rappers In Soda Commercials, A Brief Visual History
Pop Life: A Brief History Of Rappers And Soda [VIDEO]
Lil Wayne now has all of his Martians “doing the Dew” and Nicki Minaj has recently joined a long list of rappers who have stacked endorsement money from soda companies. Her contract with Pepsi will keep her in wall-to-wall pink fluffy things and metal dinosaurs for the foreseeable future. And Weezy can add the soda pitchman notch (he’s already nailed Gatorade) to his belt of capitalist conquests.
But rappers have had a relationship with soft drink companies going all the way back to 1986 when Kurtis Blow shilled for Sprite. Believe it or not, rappers have been going “pop” for longer than you might know.
