NEW YORK — Lordtyshon Garrett was sentenced to six months in jail for beating his mother-in-law’s cat Madea to death with an umbrella.
Garrett was convicted of animal cruelty and was also given five years probation.
The New York Post Reports:
Prosecutors asked for a two-year sentence, but Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Dineen Riviezzo, noting that Garrett never intended to kill the cat, showed him some mercy. Still, she said, given “the seriousness of this crime and [Garrett’s] prior criminal history … some jail time is appropriate.”
