Kanye West, Mary J Blige & Jill Scott To Headline Essence Festival
2011 is shaping up to be a big year for black music on the festival circuit in the United States. The lineup for the 17th annual Essence Music Festival was announced and features such heavyweights as Kanye West, Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott amongst others.
West, Blige and Scott will be joined by Trey Songz, Charlie Wilson, Boyz II Men, and Fantasia on the festival’s mainstage. Other stages will feature Stephanie Mills, George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars, Alexander O’Neal & Cherrelle, Macy Gray, Dwele, Mavis Staples, Mint Condition, M.C. Lyte, Tank, and the Rebirth Brass Band.
