Just a day after closing out his “Forget Tomorrow World Tour,” pop-star Justin Timberlake took to Instagram Thursday to open up about how he’s been suffering from Lyme Disease.

In the post, the singer reflected on the recent world tour, which began in April 2024. He shared that the tour had been a “fun, emotional, gratifying, physically demanding, and, at times, grueling experience.”

“I’ve been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease -— which I don’t say so you feel bad for me –– but to shed some light on what I’ve been up against behind the scenes. If you’ve experienced this disease or know someone who has — then you’re aware: living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically,” Timberlake shared in the Instagram post.

The Grammy Award winner shared that he was faced with the decision of whether he wanted to continue touring or not. He expressed that the joy he felt performing outweighed the stress he felt in his body due to the disease. In the end, Timberlake said he was grateful he continued to perform.

“Not only did I prove my mental tenacity to myself but, I now have so many special moments with all of you that I will never forget,” the singer continued. “I was reluctant to talk about this because I was always raised to keep something like this to yourself. But I am trying to be more transparent about my struggles so that they aren’t misinterpreted.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease is an illness caused by Borrelia bacteria, which can be contracted from the bite of a tick carrying the bacteria.
