New Orleans, La –At least ten people are dead and dozens are injured after a vehicle drove into a crowd on New Orleans famous Bourbon Street.
The FBI says it’s investigating the event as an act of terrorism. A truck plowed into a group of people celebrating New Year’s in the French Quarter this morning just after 3:15 a.m., and then the driver got out and started firing a weapon, with police returning fire.
The suspect is dead and has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar. New Orleans Police Superintendent Ann Kirkpatrick said two officers were shot but are in stable condition. The FBI is in charge of the investigation and are also looking into possible explosives found at the scene.
