WASHINGTON — FBI Director Christopher Wray is resigning.
Wray was under increasing pressure from Republicans to quit now, rather than force President-elect Trump to replace him with former Justice Department prosecutor Kash Patel.
He told his staff “this is the best way to avoid dragging the Bureau deeper into the fray,” adding he would stay on until the end of the Biden administration.
Wray was appointed by Trump in 2017.
