“The Waterboyz”: ATL’s Teenage Trio Gets A Motion Picture

If you been on the highways of Atlanta, we are sure you’ve seen the teenage boys out there sellings waters, trying to make an honest earning. Well now, they’re movement has been so polarized that they are now the subject of the newest motion picture THE WATERBOYZ.

Coke Daniels, heads the director’s chair with “The Waterboyz,” bringing his signature spin to this spellbinding story of urban struggle. The film, which premiered at the 2024 American Black Film Festival, already garnered critical acclaim, earning Daniels the Best Director award.
THE WATERBOYZ is based on a trio of young entrepreneurs who started as Atlanta youth selling water on the roadside. The teens evolved their side-hustle into a thriving business called “Water Boyz ‘N the Hood.” Amir, Serg, and Mekhi, who began selling water bottles after school around nine years ago, have transformed their passion into a brand beyond making sure people are hydrated.

Amir spoke to 11Alive.com about his business and stated that having a hustler’s mentality is something that’s already embedded in you. You do not have to be prone to ‘struggle’ to be a hustler, a problem solver, or an entrepreneur.
“You either got it, or you don’t,” Amir, co-owner of Water Boyz ‘N the Hood, told 11Alive. “It can’t be on you. It’s gotta be in you.”. Check out their mini-documentary with 11Alive [CLICK HERE]
