SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. — Former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has died at the age of 56, according to social media posts by her husband, Dennis Troper, and by Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
According to Troper’s social media post, his wife of 26 years and the mother to their five children died after living with lung cancer for two years. Pichai sent a note to Google employees late Friday with the news.
Non-small cell lung cancer is one of two primary types of lung cancer and the most common kind, according to the Yale School of Medicine.
Wojcicki’s passing comes on the heels of another loss for her family. Her 19-year-old son, Marco Troper, died of an accidental overdose in his dorm room at the University of California, Berkeley, in February.
