Cam Newton Wins Heisman Trophy
On Saturday night Cam Newton became the third Auburn player to win the Heisman trophy. Despite the controversial investigation of his father by the NCAA Newton won in a landslide vote, easily outpointing runner-up Andrew Luck.
His father chose not to attend the ceremony because the the NCAA believes Cecil Newton tried to get Mississippi State to pay him in exchange for his son playing there.
Newton put up an impressive stat line of 1,409 rushing yards, 21 touchdowns and was the nation’s top-rated passer with 2,589 yards passing and 28 TD throws.
He spoke with ESPN about winning the trophy and how he remained focused despite the distractions.
