Curtis Mayfield was a soul singer, music writer and guitarist. According to Okay Player, now fans will get a look into his life as Lionel Richie announces he will produce the biopic. Richie said, “It’s an honor for me to bring the life of one of my idols and friend to the screen.”

Mayfield’s widow, Altheida spoke about the biopic and said, “It’s time to celebrate and re-evaluate Curtis.’ For years, too many others have tried to claim what he alone did. He was a genius, always stood on his own.” Just last year the biography “Traveling Soul: The Life of Curtis Mayfield,” was released and written by one of his sons, Todd.
Todd said, “In presenting his story through my eyes I have tried to tell it like it is and like it was, even when a crafted piece of public relations would have made him look better.” Mayfield passed away in 1999 and left behind so much great music. There is no word on who will direct or play Mayfield, but we hope fans will enjoy the biopic when it’s released.
