Murder charges were brought against hip-hop personality, Taxstone, for last year’s Irving Plaza shooting of rapper Troy Ave’s bodyguard.

Tax, real name Darryl Campbell, has been charged with second degree murder for the fatal shooting of Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, on the night on May 25, 2016.Campbell pleaded not guilty during a hearing on Thursday.

According to Hip Hop Wired, Taxstone has plead guilty to federal charges for possessing a firearm as a felon.

Troy Ave was originally arrested and charged with attempted murder after the shooting when footage spread online of the rapper firing a gun during the incident at Irving Plaza. He was later released on bail amid rumors that it was Taxstone who killed Banga.
