It’s been seven years since Maxwell released his 2009 LP BLACKsummers’night, but with the 20th anniversary of Urban Hang Suite quickly approaching, he decided to drop a new album, also titled blackSUMMERS’night. “Lake By The Ocean” serves as the first single off Maxwell’s forthcoming album.

In a statement written to fans, Maxwell said:
“I can’t thank you enough for your patience. It’s priceless. Hope you enjoy ‘lake by the ocean’ available tomorrow on iTunes! look forward to a summer tour and of-course the album release this summer.”
blackSUMMERS’night is due out July 1. You can catch Maxwell headlining at ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans.
