Police received a phone call Friday afternoon about a shooting at a school in La Loche, where four people were found dead. Officials immediately arrived at the La Loche Community School and arrested a suspect while seizing his weapon. Chief superintendent of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Maureen Levy said, “In addition to the school, police are investigating a shooting at a residence in the town of about 2,600 people.

The mayor of the town told sources the gunman shot two of his siblings at home before making his way to the school. The country’s prime minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement, “The country’s heart is breaking.”
