Lakeisha Holloway Car Crash
Lakeisha Holloway Is Under Virtual Suicide Watch Before Going To Court
Lakeisha Holloway has been charged with a court of murder for crashing into a Las Vegas strip sidewalk on Sunday evening that left one dead and 37 injured.
According to Michael Rodriguez, a Las Vegas police spokesman, Holloway is set to appear in court today for the first time and has been held in a “medically restricted” jail cell for inmates needing additional supervision, including some who are on suicide watch.
More charges are anticipated to be brought against Holloway as the investigation goes on.
Reuters reports that Holloway had been driving on a suspended Oregon license and was living with her daughter out of her car:
In addition to murder, she has been charged with child abuse or neglect, and with leaving the scene of a collision, according to the criminal complaint filed in Clark County court.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Joe Lombardo said the incident did not appear to be an attack motivated by extremist ideology. U.S. law enforcement agencies have been on heightened alert since this month’s massacre in San Bernardino, California.
The crash occurred nearby Sunday’s Miss Universe beauty pageant at Planet Hollywood. Five victims from the crash are still in the hospital for their injuries, with three in critical condition and two in serious condition.
