Taraji P. Henson Returns As Host Of BET’s “Celebration Of Gospel”
BET announced that the Golden Globe-nominated Empire actress, Taraji P.Henson will host the network’s annual Celebration of Gospel. Henson took over hosting duties from comedian and talk show host Steve Harvey in 2014. Harvey was the show’s emcee for 13 consecutive years. Taraji is having a great run
The Celebration of Gospel has had a rough go with fans over the last few years. Rumors of its demise sent fans into a rage last year.
Performers for this year include legends Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight, Gospel staples Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Erica Campbell, and Donald Lawrence among others. The show will also include Gospel music’s newest powerhouses,Tamela Mann, Le’Andria Johnson, Heavenly Joy Jerkins, Jessica Reedy and Tasha Cobbs.
Show stopping praise from Anthony Brown & Group Therapy, Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago and an all-star tribute to honor the late, gospel pioneer Andraé Crouch led by Dr. Bobby Jones will cap the evening.
The show will be taped at the famed Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles and will be televised on January 31 at 8pm ET.
