Kendrick Lamar joined us on “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” to discuss the inspiration behind the music and unique title, “To Pimp A Butterfly,” that landed him the No. 1 album in the country.
I wanted to do something that represented the good and the bad,” Lamar says. “I wanted something that felt conflicted and “To Pimp A Butterfly was just that.” It wasn’t something Kendrick came up with overnight, but the end result was something that represented his community.
