Boris Kodjoe's Daughter’s Sophia Fight With Spina Bifida

Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kodjoe celebrated their daughter Sophie’s 10^th birthday over the weekend, but it’s the open letter Kodjoe wrote to celebrate her that will warm your heart.

According to MadameNoire, Sophie was born with spina bifida, a congenital disorder where the bones of a child’s spine don’t form properly around their spinal cord. While Sophia doesn’t have the worst case of the disorder, Boris and Nicole have to catheterize Sophie every few hours to keep a buildup of urine from passing into her kidneys. It takes a tremendous amount of dedication and love from Nicole and Boris, and even more courage from Sophia.

Kodjoe wanted to express just how proud he is of his daughter for her strength and bravery on her special day, and he took to social media to do it with an open letter to his little girl who just entered the double digits.

To My Little Heart.

The day I met your mother I knew I was ready to be a man. The day I met you I became one. You’ve shown me what true strength and courage is and you taught me that the love of faith and the faith in love is one and the same.
