Lifetime biopics are making us a little leery after the atrocious “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” biopic that aired on the channel in November. Naturally, we were a little skeptical at the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic, which was directed by Angela Bassett, until now.

A trailer for “Whitney” was released on BuzzFeed, and it looks amazing. It looks like its star, YaYa Da Costa captures Whitney’s essence, and we’re not mad at that Bobby (played by Arlen Escarpeta) either. Guess we’ll have to see how everything plays out when the movie airs on Lifetime on January 17.
