Former DC Mayor Marion Barry Has Died

Washington, DC’s iconic four-term “Mayor For Life”, Ward 8 council member and civil rights activist Marion Barry has reportedly passed. He was 78.
A spokeswoman for the councilman confirmed that he died shortly after midnight Sunday at United Medical Center in Washington. A cause of death has not yet been announced but Barry reportedly suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney issues. He was in and out of the hospital frequently over the years due to his decline in health.
