First lady Michelle Obama has long been a champion of healthy eating with her Let’s Move campaign, which is aimed at reducing childhood obesity and has scored her points with parents.
But she may have scored some cool points with millennials on Wednesday after releasing #TurnipForWhat, a Vine that promptly went viral. The only people who may not be cool with the popular Vine that recorded 53.4K likes, 39.6K Revines and nearly 8,000 comments by 2:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday are her daughters, Sasha and Malia. After all, their mom is shoulder dancing with, ahem, a turnip!
In her post, Obama asks: Hey, Alphacat . The First Lady wants to know… #TurnipForWhat ? #AskTheFirstLady #TD4W
The first lady’s post is responding to Barack Obama impersonator Imman Crosson, or @AlphaCat, who asks, “How many calories do you burn every time you ‘turn up’?!,” It’s a play off the popular DJ Snake & Lil Jon chartbuster, “Turn Down for What,” whose catchy beat plays in the background of the Vine.

The first lady is touting turnips for good reason. Besides being good word play for the Lil Jon single, the root vegetables are a good source of anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins and dietary fiber, according to Power Your Diet,
Speaking of which, do you like turnips? Does the Vine inspire you to cook some up again? If you’ve never tried them, does the first lady encourage you to do so? Let us know in the comments section.
