Two years after her shocking death, Whitney Houston is getting the Lifetime original movie treatment. The made-for-TV film, which is slated for 2015 world premiere, will be directed by Golden Globe Award-winning actress Angela Bassett.
According to a press release, Whitney Houston will chronicles “the headline-making relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer, and model, and singer-songwriter Bobby Brown — from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage.”
Angela, who costarred with Whitney in 1995’s Waiting to Exhale, said she is taking this project (her directorial debut!) very seriously. “I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments,” she said. “I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story.”
“Their humanity and bond fascinates us all,” the 55-year-old actress continued. “I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”
