Most recently, the mother of Allen’s five children filed a lawsuit, asking the court to grant her $1.2 million in advance child support. She requested for a lump sum of cash to be deposited into a trust fund for her children because she’s tired of chasing her ex-husband down for money every month.
Well, according to TMZ, the former NBA star shot back with a legal filing of his own the week. In the court documents, Allen — who has made more than $140 million during his career — claims he can no longer afford his sky-high child support payments. He reported that his only source of steady income is from a Reebok shoe deal, and despite Tawanna’s claims, he’s not a deadbeat father. He added that he’s paid over $500,000 in child support this year alone.
A judge has yet to rule in the case.
