Wendy Williams is in hot water over some offensive comments she made about HBCUs and the NAACP in a recent ‘Hot Topics” segment. Well, word on the street is that a certain sponsor of the show has decided to cut ties with the gossip queen, who apparently believes these pro-Black institutions shouldn’t exist.

Sources told B. Scott exclusively that Chevrolet dropped their advertising deal with Wendy following the controversy. The Wendy Williams show secured an all-inclusive deal with Chevrolet, Carat Media and ACE Media Corp. back in April to include on-air promotion of the 2016 Chevy Malibu. The partnership also included custom digital content, social media marketing and was set to continue throughout 2016. It isn’t confirmed exactly who made the decision to pull the plug, but it’s rather interesting that Andrea Holmes Thompkins, President and CEO of ACE Media Corp (the company responsible for facilitating the Chevy partnership), is a Howard University graduate. *Sips tea*

In case you hadn’t heard, Wendy dished on “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams’ viral BET Award’s speech. While she calls the widely-lauded speech “poignant,” she also made some cringe-worthy statements about Black institutions in the process. “On the other hand, I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically black colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There’s the NAACP,” she stated.

Rumor has it that Wendy has been “sobbing all week” over the loss, but refuses to apologize for her opinion. She did, however, do a little explaining in a recent segment addressing the controversy, though she doesn’t exactly apologize (skip to the 1:45 mark).
