It’s that time of the year again for what some would call one of television’s most unhinged, yet entertaining award shows…the MTV Video Music Awards!
Since its start in 1984, the VMAs has seen it’s fair share of notable hosts and hilarious moments. With so many controversies, there’s no wonder it averages 3.9 million viewers across 12 Paramount Global cable channels (as well as broadcast network The CW), according to Billboard.com.
Rap icon Nicki Minaj returns to host the 2023 Video Music Awards, but this time she’s taking on the task solo. Minaj, 40, previously co-hosted the 2022 ceremony with LL Cool J (55) and Jack Harlow (25). The “head-Barb-in-charge” is also set to perform her latest single, ‘Last Time I Saw You’.

As previously reported, Taylor Swift and SZA are this year’s most nominated artists—Swift with eight and SZA with six. Taylor currently holds 14 “MTV moon men.” She will unseat Madonna for second place (to Beyoncé) if she surpasses 20 VMAs.
