Rodney King Found Dead At Age 47
TMZ has reported that Rodney King has died. He was found at the bottom of a pool by his fiancee early this morning in Rialto, CA. Law enforcement officials say they responded to a 911 call at 5:25 A.M. PST. King was removed from the pool and attempted CPR, but to no avail. King was pronounced dead at 6:11 A.M.
King made headlines in 1991 when he became the victim of police brutality at the hands of the L.A.P.D. The officers involved in the incident were acquitted, which led to days of civil unrest in 1992 by citizens who were enraged by the seemingly unjust verdict.
TMZ spoke with King about two months ago, where he seemed upbeat and introspective:
