B. Simone Dragged Online After Complaining About Shopping at H&M

B. Simone is known for her unfiltered honesty, but her latest confession didn’t exactly land the way she hoped. In a recent episode of her podcast Let’s Try This Again, co-hosted with her friend Shekinah Yon, the comedian and influencer opened up about how building a new app has shifted her entire financial perspective. She got emotional discussing how she’s had to pull back on spending and start budgeting like never before. But what truly lit up the internet was her offhand comment comparing shopping at Bloomingdale’s to H&M.

“I’ve never been like this,” Simone admitted. “We were in Bloomingdale’s yesterday, and I said, ‘We have to go to H&M.’ I just don’t have it to spend—the liquid. I’m used to having liquid. I got the money, but not yet. It’s coming. I have it in assets, I have it in jewelry. I’m just not used to this.”

While B. Simone’s point was to show the growing pains of reinvesting her earnings into a long-term business, some listeners weren’t buying it. The clip, which quickly made the rounds on The Shade Room, drew intense backlash. Many felt her frustrations about not being able to splurge at high-end stores during a time when many are struggling to afford basic necessities were completely out of touch.
“Girl hush. I gotta choose between Dollar Tree and Dollar General,” one user wrote in response. Another added, “Bloomingdale’s versus H&M? People are starving. Girl, shut up.”

Despite the criticism, the core message of the episode was about personal growth and purpose. Simone emphasized that she’s not just chasing fast money or fame—she’s focused on building something sustainable. “Purpose doesn’t always make a lot of noise in the beginning,” she said. “Sometimes you’ve got to go through the quiet struggle to get to the big win.”
Simone has faced controversy before, but she’s also been praised for her vulnerability and transparency when it comes to the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. This situation may have rubbed some the wrong way, but others appreciated her honesty about financial discomfort—even if the example she gave was a bit out of step with the average person’s reality.
In the end, it’s a reminder that even influencers experience financial pressure, especially when betting big on their dreams. And maybe, just maybe, B. Simone will find out H&M has some gems worth rocking after all.
