Trump criticizes portrait of himself in Colorado’s state Capitol

House Democrats in Colorado revealed that Republicans requested the removal of a portrait of former President Donald Trump from the state Capitol, which was funded through a GoFundMe campaign.

Trump criticized the painting as distorted and called on Democratic Gov. Jared Polis to take it down.

“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

The portrait, created by artist Sarah Boardman, was unveiled in 2019 and has since been removed following the Executive Committee of the General Assembly’s decision.

“The artist also did President Obama, and he looks wonderful, but the one on me is truly the worst. She must have lost her talent as she got older,” Trump expressed.

The controversy surrounding the portrait has attracted attention to the Colorado State Capitol’s artwork and visitor experience.
