“Great Debaters” & “Eve’s Bayou” Actress Jurnee Smollett Gets Married
Actress Jurnee Smollett quietly married her musician boyfriend Josiah Bell this past October. Jurnee, who made appearances on “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper” and “Martin” as a child, grew into adulthood on screen when we watched her act in films alongside Samuel L. Jackson in “Eve’s Bayou” and Denzel Washington in “The Great Debaters.” The 24-year-old actress described the wedding, which happened on October 24 in a Los Angeles botanical garden, as “beautiful, moving and personal.”
Her pastor father-in-law performed the ceremony. Of the wedding planning, Jurnee said,
“It was such a fun process. We didn’t hire a wedding planner. Josiah and I literally decided every detail together. I didn’t have the pressure of wondering whether or not the groom would like certain things. He was right there for every decision. It’s incredible. My best friend is my life partner. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
Jurnee is currently appearing on two acclaimed television shows – the courtroom dramedy “The Defenders” with Jerry O’Connell as well as critical favorite “Friday Night Lights.”
